So two things to start with. One, I thought this was going to be a novella, but it turned out to be a full-length book. Two, I'll admit I was a little skeptical about how this author was going to make a paranormal book work in connection with the Masters & Mercenaries world. It turns out; it worked very well because the book was set in the Demonica Underworld world. -- And I'll just say again this was my first foray into a crossover series and I seem to have been confused about the way it works. For some reason, I assumed that these books were going to take place in the M&M world with these other authors just writing the stories. But most of these crossovers are continuations of these author's own series with a few M&M characters thrown in. That really isn't a HUGE deal except for the fact that most of them require you have SOME knowledge of these author's previous books and characters.

That said, this was one of the better ones in that respect, and I read it without too much confusion. Although if I had to guess 98% of the secondary characters were from previous Demonica Underworld books. In any case, the writing was quite good. It was well paced. The plot was engaging and had me curious enough that I may give the Demonica Underworld series a try when I have some extra time. It had a great cast of secondary characters. The sex scenes were fairly hot (but there were not many of them). I liked both Suzanne and Declan. It was pretty low angst, and there wasn't any OW or OM drama. I've read five out of the six books in the crossover so far, and this one was definitely one of the better ones. Therefore, yours truly is going to give it two thumbs up.
