Evil Librarian by Knudsen Michelle

Evil Librarian

by Knudsen Michelle

He’s young. He’s hot. He’s also evil. He’s . . . the librarian.

When Cynthia Rothschild’s best friend, Annie, falls head over heels for the new high-school librarian, Cyn can totally see why. He’s really young and super cute and thinks Annie would make an excellent library monitor. But after meeting Mr. Gabriel, Cyn realizes something isn’t quite right. Maybe it’s the creepy look in the librarian’s eyes, or the weird feeling Cyn gets whenever she’s around him. Before long Cyn realizes that Mr. Gabriel is, in fact . . . a demon. Now, in addition to saving the school musical from technical disaster and trying not to make a fool of herself with her own hopeless crush, Cyn has to save her best friend from the clutches of the evil librarian, who also seems to be slowly sucking the life force out of the entire student body! From best-selling author Michelle Knudsen, here is the perfect novel for teens who like their horror served up with a bit of romance, plenty of humor, and some pretty hot guys (of both the good and evil variety).

I was really looking forward to reading this book when I got it at BEA but life always happens and I didn’t get a chance to read it as soon as I would have liked. I was super excited when it as picked for My TBRL book and I couldn’t wait to get started with it.

This book was a lot of fun to read, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started it, I will be honest and say I wasn’t expecting a heavy romance book on the Main Characters side but that is pretty much what it was. It’s super cute and has some really funny moment. I loved the Main Character Cynthia, the way she was written you can totally tell she is a love struck teen girl who just so happens to now be battling an Evil Librarian to save her BFF all while trying to help put the play Sweeney Todd together for the school. Michelle Knudsen really captured the mind of a teenager, Cynthia was really well written and some of her thoughts are really funny (and probably things I thought of when I was a teen…minus the demon librarian stuff). Cynthia’s love interest Ryan is adorable, for most of the book I was cheering them on, Cynthia is really head over heals for him and while reading this you can totally see why. He is a sweetheart and the lead in the school play with an amazing voice. Cynthia’s Best Friend Annie falls for the Evil Librarian and now Cyn needs to save her and the entire school, why she has to do it by herself is unclear, but it was fun watching her try to focus on the School play and try to avoid demons. Mr Gabriel aka the Evil Librarian seems like he would be a cutie but he’s really a jerk, I thought the reason why he was in the school was clever and the interactions between Cynthia and him were intense and sometimes funny. I found the entire story to be really cute however it has a few slow spots the school was putting on a play Sweeney Todd (which just so happens to be Demons favorite play) so a lot of the book was about putting the play together, the knowledge Michelle has for HS Theatre is impressive.

This was really a cute book loved the humor, the quirkiness and the romance and I look forward to reading more from Michelle Knudsen!
