Belle Fury (Manhattan Ten, #3)

Belle Fury is a bit different than the previous two books in the series. It's more focused on the characters' personal issues rather than on the romance and action. I still liked it, but not as much. Belle is a professional ballerina who has clawed her way to the top and has finally gotten a starring role to really kick start her career. But, once she hits the stage, her super powers come rushing out. There's nothing Belle can do to stop the flashes of energy flying out of her except stop dancing. It turns out that she can transform kinetic energy into a weapon, so any sudden movements could be deadly. That's not her number one worry though. It's that she can never dance again.

After the disastrous show, Belle is picked up by Red Ruin, one of the Manhattan Ten. He's been left in charge while their leader, Tank, is away. He's also the most equipped to handle Belle, since he also developed his powers late and his electricity based powers are similar to hers. He brings her to the headquarters and helps her rein in her power. Of course, there's also a building attraction between them, which could literally bring down the house if things get too intense. Unfortunately, their romance is barely brushed upon, but they do have one steamy scene together.

Most of Belle Fury was about Belle worrying about who she is if she can't dance. Ballet is her life, and she had left everything behind just to dance. She doesn't want her powers, which of course can be taken care of since we already met one super whose power happens to be to take others powers. This plot thread was quite predictable, but it was over quickly. While it's not my favorite of the books so far, I did like how it looked into the conflict of a new superhero who doesn't want to be known for a superpower, but for something that they worked hard for.
