I found a big grin on my face while I was reading Legacy of the Curse. And not because it was all humorous, though parts of it were. It was just that kind of satisfying story that made me happy. And it is the type that had me reading slowly, enjoying the journey and not rushing to the end despite wanting to know what was going to happen next.
So what was it I loved? Aside from "everything", here are some specifics that come to mind:
Elddreki's discussion with Joss about death. His perception, as an immortal dragon, was very humorous, as were the questions he kept asking. My husband got to listen to at least a page of this because it was too fun to not share!
The hints about Jocelyn's voice and the power that it had. The mystery of what it does, how it does it and the source unfolded slowly, perpetuating the conundrum. The rate at which the details were revealed was just right.
Elddreki's shock at Jocelyn's very practical question "You want me to swim across?"
Kincaid
Kincaid's protectiveness and the many times and ways he rescued Joss
Kincaid's reaction to learning the terrible secrets that Joss had been keeping
The amazing descriptions!
I could go on and on, covering most of the events of the story. :-)
The truth Joss learned about herself as she went on the unexpected quest was surprising and the way it changed her life was simply perfect. I loved the way she was finally able to overcome her fears and accept her gift for what it was.
