I picked up the Long Night because I was curious about it. It wasn’t until after I took a second look at it that I saw the ‘adaptation’ part in the subtitle. I had no idea what that was about at first – I knew that no movie or TV show had been made along these lines. A quick search gave me the answer – it’s an adaptation from a well received Podcast. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I think I’m going to have to. Especially considering how much I enjoyed the first issue.
The Long Night is a standalone series. You don’t have to be up to date in everything else Logan is up to in order to follow this one (which is good, because I’m not up to date).
I really enjoyed this one. The multiple perspectives was unexpected, but it really did enhance the feel of the story. It made it less predictable, which is difficult for such a long-standing character like Logan.
The change of pace was refreshing, and I personally felt it was worth the read. I’m looking forward to the rest of the issues coming out. I think I’ll wait until the comics are complete until I listen to the Podcast – but that being said, if you’re a fan of the Podcast and think I should alter my planned order, please feel free to say so.
