Freedom Fighters is a new series from the DC Universe. I may have skipped over this series (it looks a bit heavy, truth be told) if I hadn’t spotted Robert Venditti’s name on the cover. Apparently that’s all it takes for me. Go figure.
Anyway, the new series is based in Earth X, an alternate universe. Being that it’s a different universe, that means they can mess about with history as they please. In this case they changed the ending of WWII. I think you can guess where this is heading. The Nazis won WWII, so the series is…well it’s about Freedom Fighters. Those people that are still resisting and fighting the good fight.
It’s an interesting concept, but not exactly a relaxing read. There’s heavy points being made here (I don’t think I need to explain any of that for you though) and a lot of violence (both implied and shown). It’s very well written though, so I personally felt that it was worth the read.
