I am not a huge fan of novellas, but I thought this one filled in some gaps for us. We got to meet the young queen's mother and learned a lot more about the history of the island. We learned about a family curse and why a certain betrayal was so shocking. We also got some background on one of the BIG reveals from the last book. I absolutely believe this was worth my time, as it enhanced my understanding of island politics as well as the relationship dynamics.
