I received an ARC through NetGalley.

When I picked up Kiss the Bride, I was expecting a sweet, probably wholesome, small town romance. Upon reading the first page, that was not what I got at all! And that’s a good thing! While I wanted to try something new, I’m quite glad that the story was a lot sexier than I had anticipated. It’s mostly told from Heck’s POV, which was nice, since a good male POV is hard to find. His parts are clearly male, and at times a little raunchy! He’s a little rough around the edges, but I adored him! Heck’s been recruited as his life-long best friend’s maid of honor, an honor he’s not too thrilled about. For starts, it’s a woman’s position! Secondly, he hates the groom. Finally, he’s in love with the bride, Caroline.

Kiss the Bride was a ton of fun! It was funny to see Heck’s reactions to all of the wedding planning stuff, especially since he was doing everything with the women, such as dress shopping and the bachelorette party. Caroline’s bachelorette party has to be one of the funniest scenes I have ever read. It’s clear that Heck is trying his hardest, but he really has no clue what he’s doing. Until the strippers arrive. I was seriously laughing out loud. That part is way too hilarious! In addition to be funny, the story is also super sexy. There’s quite a bit of sexual tension throughout, but once Heck and Caro get together…dang! The author definitely knows what she’s doing! Kiss the Bride is most definitely not the wholesome romance that it appears to be!

Of course, there’s some miscommunications about Heck and Caro’s feelings toward each other and what them having sex means to them and for the wedding. I was slightly annoyed at this part, since they’re both 34 years old and should have better communication skills by now! It was only a minor annoyance though, since I quite enjoyed what followed. It’s not the typical fight and reunion, so the ending was quite refreshing. Obviously, I really enjoyed Kiss the Bride! It’s a fun romance that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and would be perfect for all romance fans who like a lot of steam with their love.
