If it weren’t for The Americans, this would be a one-star read. Actually, probably a DNF.

But thanks to The Americans, namely how much I miss The Americans, I couldn’t hate it as much as I wanted to. Despite the head-hopping, and the repeated insistence that spies on one side do Good Things and the others do Bad Things. And the parts that dragged in the slowest of slow burns. And the gimmick of recipes throughout the book that was clever at first, and then just obvious and annoying. Despite all that, I still couldn’t hate it. That’s not fair, but life isn’t.
