I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

In terms of plot/story, this book is super cute. It was a quick read. The family drama coupled with the pressures of college life are relatable. I think that the book also does a great job of portraying different kinds of family situations.

With respect to the characters, I think both Julian and Beatrice are adorable. They're likeable, their emotions/reactions make sense, and their relationship is heart-warming. However, I wish there had been more about their ethnicity/cultures involved in the story. Julian is of Asian descent, but other than mentioning that, his ethnicity is largely ignored. For a Caucasian reader, like myself, this meant that my mental image was of two white characters interacting with a white world. If readers of Asian descent are looking for books that feature Asian characters, I think this book will disappoint.

Overall, 3/5 stars for me. It works great as a romantic comedy, but I wish the characters were more well-rounded.
