The Memory Book

Wait, I have to dry my tears. This book was sad. It's about a girl, who in her senior year of high school is diagnosed with a terminal disease. Not just a terminal disease, but one that will strip her of her memory, thus stripping her of herself, piece by piece. In order to help her "future" self remember, she begins keeping a memory book on her computer.

I said this story was sad, but it was also sweet, funny, tender, and heartwarming. I loved Sammie, and Cooper, and the entire McKoy family. I loved the journal style, and how Sammie had some "guest" writers every once in a while. I loved that Avery gave Sammie so many beautiful memories. Even after her symptoms worsened, she had good days. As a reader, I needed Sammie to have those good days.

A beautiful story, which had now made me aware (and learning more about) NPC, and makes me appreciate the small miracles I have in my life.
