I thoroughly enjoyed my first Jennifer Gracen novel set on Long Island. Someone Like You is the second book in The Harrison's Series and can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Pierce Harrison, is a former football player with the English Premier League. After a scandal at his former club; Tottenham Hotspurs, he's left his life in England and returned to the place he despises for so many reasons. Kingston Point is the epitome of the vacuous, pretentious life he escaped from, but it's familiar and he loves his sister who still lives there. So, he decides to stay in her home on the estate he grew up on whilst he decides what to do with his life.

Devastated by the betrayal and deceit caused by her former boyfriend Ewan, Abby McCord, a twenty-eight-year-old teacher is back living with her parents and helping to take care of her nephew. She's happy but accepts that she's using her family to avoid getting her heart broken again until she meets Pierce. Is Abby willing to give up her one year no dating moratorium and take a chance with the sexy footballer?

I enjoyed the interaction between the protagonists as they get to know each other. It's painfully awkward in the beginning. Pierce is open and honest with Abby about his past, but he's frustrated by Abby's coolness towards him. I love how he slowly manages to make Abby see that he's the good guy, and manages to coax her into telling him about why she has her reservations. All while the sparks for lustful attraction are surrounding them. However, Abby is never far from well-meaning people that jump at any opportunity to plant seeds of doubt in her mind about the man she's developing feeling for, causing her to doubt Pierce's sincerity.

Pierce, always emotionally detached from his siblings makes a conscience effort to rebuild his relationship with his brothers. They replay his effort by pulling together and help him when he needs it the most. It's heartfelt and heart-warming.

Overall, the author has written a fun, sexy book which kept me turning the pages.
