Obviously, Dreams of Gray is about Dree's transition into a werewolf. I really liked how it worked. It's not some sudden, immediate change. Over the next few days, whenever her emotions run high, parts of Dree shift. Her tattoo also burns which makes clothes a pain (literally). Soon enough another wolf finds her and becomes a kind of mentor. But Slate isn't just there to be helpful. She wants revenge on the man who changed them and needs Dree's help. This added a nice action plot to Dree's personal struggles. I was really hoping this would veer into F/F territory, because I really liked Dree and Slate together.
Dreams of Gray also has one of my favorite suspense plot additions: a stalker! But not just a stalker; there's an "If I can't have you, no one can" type stalker! Yes! I love this stuff! So, it doesn't really add to the overall werewolf plot, but I still really enjoyed it for its own sake. I also thought that ending was pretty great. It's not a typical happily ever after ending, but it's one that worked for the story. And I'm curious as to what comes next.
