Ruthless Reign is the first book in a brand new series by Aleatha Romig. Romance, suspense, intrigue, betrayal and surprises await you in this new series which focuses on the royal family of Molave. So pick the book up, sit back and enjoy the ride.

OMG! Where do I begin? Ruthless Reign delivered a story which will slowly pull you in, twist you around, mess with your mind and leave you wondering what the heck you just read. To receive the full effect of this story, one needs to go in blindly and so my review will be deliberately vague.

The story hidden between the pages of Ruthless Reign was complex, riveting, and suspenseful. It will have you flipping the pages as you try to figure what next is going to happen. So prepare for a journey into the unexpected. All is not as it seems in Oliver and Lucille’s world. Political intrigue, conspiracy, betrayal and secrets drove this story.

Readers will enjoy getting to know the main characters, Lucille an Oliver. They are both compelling characters who you will want to cheer on. They both got caught up in a situation bigger than them both. A situation where they don’t know who to trust and so every move they make has to be done with caution. Readers will feel empathy towards Lucille and her situation. Marrying a prince doesn’t mean living a fairy tale life, a lesson Lucille learnt in the past five years.

The chemistry and energy between the protagonists is intense. At first, their attraction to each other felt out of place, but as secrets unfolded, things became so much clearer and soon they couldn't stay away from each other. One may feel uncomfortable at first reading about the developing relationship between the protagonists, but as stated earlier all is not as it seems.

The plot was bold and risky with many twists and secrets which amped up the tension in the story, therefore making it hard to put the book down. It ended on a shocking note, and I am still reeling from it. Now I wait to learn what other surprises await us in Resilient Reign which release January 2023.This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
