Finding Kyler (Kennedy Boys, #1)

I revived this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fairly quick read and a pretty good one. I'm looking forward reading the sequels. My one and only complaint was that I couldn't keep track of all of the Kennedy brothers besides Kyler. The triplets were interchangeable to me and the older brothers weren't around much to leave any impression.

I really liked Faye, she was a breath of fresh air from the normal damsel in distress heroine that are in New/Young Adult books as of late. She stayed strong, independent, fierce, feisty and fiery through out the whole book. I remember reading Fallen too Far by Abbi Glines and initially liked the main character Blaire, she was independent, didn't take crap from no one, but eventually devolved into a simpering mess who couldn't defend herself or more importantly stand up for herself without the hero Rush. Faye is nothing like that and wanted to do her own thing from the beginning of the novel to the end.

Faye's parents die tragically in a car accident in Ireland, and her mothers brother comes out of the woodwork to take Faye to America so she can be with his family and continue her life. Throughout most if not all of the book Faye doesn't want to be in America, hates that her parents left her with an uncle she has never heard of as well as trying to deal with American teenagers who are going gag over a new pretty Irish girl.

The Kennedy's are a household name in the town where Faye now lives, and Faye is now living a life of luxury, complete with her own large bedroom and en suite bathroom as well as a new wardrobe. Faye wants nothing to do with it, and goes as far as to get a job and apply to the public high school where she won't be around her cousins.

Speaking of cousins they are an interesting lot, especially Kyler who was my favorite along with one of the triplets who is Fayes only friend for awhile, the only one who doesn't hate her the second she comes to America. In fact he is quite the opposite and has quite the crush on her and is quite vocal about it.

Kyler hates everything about Faye from the way she looks to the way she suddenly showed up in his life. When they first see each other they both notice the pain in each others eyes, even though they are able to hide it from the rest of the world. Faye can relate very well to the pain Kyler is feeling even if she doesn't know why he is so unhappy.

Fay does her best to keep her walls up, not letting anyone get close to her. She wants to leave the Kennedy estate as soon as possible so she can start her own life and not be dependent on her Uncle James' money.

Through some more chance meetings Kyler and Faye develop an intense attraction to each other and try to deny it as much as they can, especially because they are cousins. After some back and forth and some really heated moments they both conclude that they can no longer deny their feelings, despite what everyone else thinks. Maybe it's a little squicky that they are cousins, but it didn't bother me too much, and I could see how much Faye really cared for Kyler. Kyler was a little harder to read for me, and I sometimes wondered what he saw in Faye, maybe it was how strong willed, independent she was, that she wasn't like the other girls he had dated who only wanted him for his money and fame.

Even though it ended on a cliff hanger, some things were wrapped up, others just starting to get going, but I Felt like the book didn't end in the middle of a sentence or something like some books I've read, which infuriated me. Kyler and Faye made the decision to be together, and to tell their family in a few days once things calm down with Keaton who I believe was in trouble with the law. But I can't believe the bomb shell that was dropped on me!

There seems to be some interesting sub-plots developing that have me interested in reading the rest of the series as well regarding both the cousins and uncle. I just hope we don't get too many books about the brothers as I feel that might be overkill.

A week or so after reading this I'm still thinking about it and what's going to happen in the next book. My only hope is that each brother isn't going to get a spin off because I feel like that would take away from the core characters.
