I’m a bit conflicted about this issue. On the one hand I’m really happy with the sudden spin back around to the psychological side of things. There was a lot of internal monologues, a lot of questioning, and even more self doubt. It was well done and fairly interesting. The part I’m conflicted by is the inclusion of heaven/hell. This is something that can absolutely be done right, and it can be incredibly interesting. But I also feel like its somewhat overused (okay, extremely overused) and I almost wish they had tried to find another way to broach the same conversation. But it did work, so I can’t complain too much about it (thus the four stars). The artwork for this series heavily drifted more towards the ‘horror’ side of comics, and it was a perfect fit. I don’t want to go into too much detail, because spoilers, but I will say that a few images there made my skin crawl.
