Selkies Are a Girl's Best Friend by Molly Harper

Selkies Are a Girl's Best Friend (Mystic Bayou, #3)

by Molly Harper

Molly Harper is back with the next wickedly funny, wildly enchanting Mystic Bayou novel!

Sonja Fong isn't afraid of a little chaos. As director of the League's research center in Mystic Bayou, a tiny town in Louisiana that's home to supernatural creatures and humans alike, she's responsible for making sure things run smoothly. It's not an easy task when her daily memos include lines like "new equipment is needed because the old equipment was destroyed by a temper tantrum involving dragonfire."

Her job puts her in the path of Dr. Will Carmody, a mysterious shifter who's returned to Mystic Bayou after a long absence only to find that he's now considered an outsider. To make matters worse, the rift – a tear in the fabric of the universe that is leaking supernatural energy into the bayou - is unraveling at an alarming rate. Now Sonja and Will must team up to fix the rift and save Mystic Bayou from certain disaster, all while their own romance is heating up. Can they have a future together while the whole world is falling apart?

These two worked perfectly together...

I really enjoyed this latest instalment of the Mystic Bayou series. Sonja Fong is my favourite kind of heroine. She's smart, attractive, independent and strong-willed. I knew from the beginning she was going to need a hero who could be as put together as she is. When I met Dr Will Camody, I knew he was her perfect match...even if he does have a tail.

Molly Harper has shared with us another entertaining story and brought it to life for me by matching it to two very talented narrators. This series is one of my very favourites when it comes to dual narration. Both, Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis are very good at giving each character their own voice. I love it when Zed's character gets all passionate and Mr Davis really expresses it well. I'm always chuckling when Zed and Bael get together for chats.

Selkies are a Girl's Best Friend is short, sweet and left me completely satisfied. For an audiobook, I don't mind that it's short at all. I get a good laugh, a bit of angst to keep the story moving and a touch of intrigue that kept me guessing. I had my suspicions from the start, and I was right on the mark. The connection between Sonja and Will was obvious and I never doubted they were meant for each other.

If you're looking for a quick and entertaining audiobook, I highly recommend giving Molly Harper's, Mystic Bayou series a go.
