Rapture by L V Lane

Rapture (Omega Prey, #7)

by L.V. Lane

Winter

He’s supposed to be my protector, the towering male with the delicious scent that drives my body wild.

He’s supposed to obey me, although he rides the line of disrespect with infuriating ease.

And when he’s injured, I’m supposed to gift him my powerful blood.

Only I don’t, and I can’t, and now my actions have broken the rules

And the man who once obeyed is going to own me.

Jacob

Beautiful, cold, and untouchable, Winter is all that and more.

The tiny little fairy with the frosty disposition and heart made of ice.

She’s supposed to heal me, but my miserly mistress gives me only scraps.

My mind despises her, even as my body craves her blood.

Trapped by circumstance, my broken fairy will break both the rules and me.

But revenge, sweeter than the blood flowing through her veins, will ultimately be mine.

Rapture is a dark and steamy enemies to lovers paranormal, fairy-vampiric mashup.

  • Fairy - vampire mash-up

At this point, I am very comfortable in saying that I don't think there is a book L.V. Lane writes that I don't like... And I still need to find the time to read a couple of her books that I haven't gotten to yet.

This universe in the Omega Prey series is bigger than I first thought it would be, and it works!
I'm actually delighted. This book has a bit of a 'vampire' feel to it, and the Omega's here are Faeries.

The Alpha's are the 'vampires' and the Omegas are all on a different "blood rank" if you will.

It did remind me a bit of the Controller's series and how Lilly's blood worked because it's very similar, it gives the Alpha's extra stamina/strength etc, but unlike in the Controllers series in Rapture, it depends on what type of Omega she is and that determines what the blood does.

Winter and Jacob's story is an enemy to lovers tale.
Winter is 'high blood', the highest cast of Omega, and with that comes immortality for lack of a better word. She has all the characteristics of an Omega, and once upon a time, she was a blossoming, happy and giving one. But sadly past events have scarred our dear Winter and she's become cold...existing rather than living.

Jacob is quite young, and a warrior. Once a slave after Blighten attacked his homeland, he was rescued and conscripted into a King's army.
Already from the start, I felt there was something about Jacob that made him stand out. Despite his young years, I felt he's a bit of an old soul.
He's a very strong fighter with high moral sense.

Winter and Jacob's book had me enthralled from the start, and I could not put it down.
In true Lane style, it had great steam, great battle scenes, humour, sarcasm and a great introduction to other characters, leaving a door open to explore more.

A definite 5 star from me!
