Trust and respect must be earned.
As a child, I was raised to respect my elders, clergy, teachers and the law. I’m not sure our younger generation have been taught those same values or to the same degree to be honest. BUT… I’m not sure we, as a modern generation, still believe that respect should be blindly given. Too many bad things have happened lately that we know about because of the media. Cover ups are exposed, investigations are monitored and we are not afraid to question someone’s decisions or motivations….
Geez, Sassy…SOAPBOX.
What I’m trying to say is that this story is a prime example of why we don’t automatically follow the law (or the man wearing the badge) blindly. Respect must be earned.
Find Me was a fast paced and interesting look into the lives of Lizzy and Mac. Lizzy finishes work really late one night and witnesses a murder. At first, she wants to just forget about it but as she is the only witness, it’s up to her to help the police identify the culprit. Lizzy is hesitant to deal with the authorities as she had a bad experience with men in uniform abusing their place of power. When she comes face to face with the murderer…at the police station and wearing a badge, her first instinct isn’t to start pointing fingers, it’s to RUN.
Mac is an FBI agent and a good man who takes his job seriously. His family all work for the police department in different areas. His dad was also a police officer but died when he was young. When he meets Lizzy for the first time he is really attracted to her. Trying to keep his mind on the job is a struggle, but he is determined to find the killer of one of his work mates. When Lizzy disappears he works tirelessly to track her down. At first, he’s concerned that she might have had something to do with the death. Then his concern turns to worry that something might have happened to her. One day he finally gets the break he’s looking for and manages to track her down. Things don’t go exactly to plan when he sets out to find her…and then somehow wakes up naked, sore and freezing, with her naked in his arms.
There is plenty of intrigue and mystery with a healthy dose of passion, lust and sexy times. Even though we know who the murderer is from the beginning, the storyline was still fast-paced and interesting. While both Mac and Lizzy know it’s not the right time or right place, they can’t help but succumb to their attraction.
Secrets and lies between them slow down the progress of their relationship…but it’s all relative really. The book is set out over a week. I should hope he’s not popping the question, or she’s not picking out baby names…YET!! They need to get to know each other more and learn to trust each other and their own feelings.
I really enjoyed Find Me and considering this is the third book in the series and my first from the author, I had not troubles reading this as a standalone. Saying that, I enjoyed it so much I won’t be able to stop myself from reading the rest of the Donovan’s (Mac’s family) stories.
I received a complimentary copy of Find Me from the author for an honest review.
