The Brave take the line.

Straight up, I know that I could not marry an officer…and I mean any officer. Sure, there are plenty that I could fall in lust with because some of those Coppers, Firies, Medics and Service Men are FINE!! But, I know I’m not strong enough to watch them walk out the door and face danger every day. Yes, you could easily say that an accountant faces danger by hopping in his car, yet he doesn’t go looking for danger. And again, yes, I know they don’t go LOOKING for danger, but it is part of the job. I’d be petrified every day, and this book probably just made it worse. Lucky for me, hubby works from home and the extent of the danger he faces is a crick in his neck from sitting at his computer too long. The Brave Line is a glimpse into the lives of officers and the call centre workers who live, hear and deal with the calls that come in.

Bloody Kate Stewart, she really loves messing with my brain. Straight up, I’m going to admit something that will probably shock you. Nearly every one of her heroes I’ve hated for a time. Rowdy, well he takes the cake. I wanted to kick the douchewaffle where the "sun don’t shine" numerous times. Officer Arsehole, doesn’t do relationships and makes it as plain as he can that for him, sex will not make him fall in love. The problem is that his attitude was just plain rude. Sure, he doesn’t want to lead women on, but common courtesy goes a long way. So, for the majority of this book, I hated Rowdy. The problem is, Kate Stewart always talks me round. She works on my heart strings, brings on my tears and pushes their deep and true feelings at me, that I cave. I’m as bad as the bloody heroines.

Where Kate Stewart excels, though, is her real way of portraying the characters. They point blank admit their stupidity. Own their mistakes and can articulate why they are the way they are and where they’ve gone wrong. It’s very hard to hold a grudge against someone who admits their faults AND is willing and prove their willingness, to work at changing. How’s a romantic gushy mushy reader supposed to deny that? Well, this little ducky can’t.

So, knowing that I may hate my hero for a wee while, I stepped into The Brave Line waiting for the first blow. Well, it came and I survived. I think it may have a wee bit to do with having a soft spot for men in uniform, so I have to give them a little leeway. I mean, what these guys face on a day to day basis SUCKS!! What I have now come to realise, is that the call centre workers who take the emergency calls, have it just as bad…but in a different way.

How would you handle taking numerous calls where someone is either screaming or crying in your ear? Me…not sure I could do it. Well, Michelle, she’s a tough chick. She’s FEARLESS!! Unfortunately, she became fearless after making one of those calls to the call centre. This chick was amazing. Michelle has faced danger, lived through it and became a fierce and lively woman who makes the best of every day. She also needs to protect her heart a little better.

I really enjoyed the journey reading The Brave Line. We got to see some of our old friends pop up and got to meet some new and interesting ones too.

There were plenty of steamy scenes to get the heart pumping and it was obvious to me that these guys had a connection.

The Brave Line was not an easy read. Some of the scenes were a little hard to take but never more than I could handle. There is one scene that broke my heart and what made it even worse was the fact that it was something that we are unfortunately seeing more of lately.

Police officers don’t just have to face the bad guys, they also have to face that some bad guys are standing by their side. The fallout of a bad decision by an officer, especially in this day of social media, can be catastrophic. There are no easy answers…but my heart goes out to the good officers (doing the right thing) and the victims (who may not have been doing the right thing) who have to live with their consequences.

Kate Stewart you suck…but I love your work!! Can’t wait for more suffer, pain and torture…that leads to a happy ever after.
