Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, #6)

by Eoin Colfer

“Genius inspires resentment. A sad fact of life.” (Artemis Fowl II)

In Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox, Artemis's mother is ill and the only cure for her illness is the brain fluid of an animal that's extinct because of Artemis. Oh, the irony!

Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox contains time travel, extinct lemurs and Extinctionists and it's so ridiculous. The time travelling is confusing and doesn't make sense. I feel like Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox was written just so there could be another Artemis Fowl book and the plot drags.

I've always loved the characters in the Artemis Fowl series, but in Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox, the characters don't behave like themselves. I miss the snobbish child genius with questionable motives who plans and plots because the Artemis Fowl in Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox isn't as fun to read about and he doesn't seem as smart. Butler doesn't play much of a role in Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox, but when he's around, he acts like more of a lackey than a bodyguard. Also, what was that kiss between Artemis and Holly?!

Everything is repetitive and seems to be recycled from previous Artemis Fowl books. Artemis's mother is ill AGAIN, Artemis works with Holly, Mulch and Foaly AGAIN , Butler dies and is brought back to life AGAIN and Opal Koboi is a villain AGAIN.

I hope that Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex can bring back the fun and excitement that I had when I first read the Artemis Fowl series.
