Overall, I give this 4 stars with some of the "stories" being 3 stars and some being 5. I say "stories" because these are scenes that were either cut or rewritten in the published versions.

I did really enjoy some of these scenes - they frequently gave a deeper view of the characters or insight into how character development changed due to editing. However, my final impression is that Jeaniene Frost has a great editor - the advice to remove these scenes because they would slow down the story progression was normally on point. They worked well for me after the fact - but in the actual flow of the story? I don't know that I wouldn't have been frustrated by the slower pace. There were one or two changes - not really deleted scenes but changes - that I felt worked as well as the published version.

Overall, it was a fun read and I'm glad to know what could have been and to know the characters a little bit better.
