My Review:

All it takes is the glimpse of this cover to make you want to know more. When I realized this might be the first every Jekyll and Hyde retelling, it as was a I need this book now kind of situation. Then an email from Andrea asking to review this book made me SQUEE with delight and I never squee it took a lot for me to hold off from reading it while I finished a book I was currently reading but the first few sentences I was pretty much hooked.

This book is set in the 1900’s and holy moly it’s a creepy setting. This book was done amazingly and I loved the twist of the Jekyll and Hyde story. Henry Jekyll wanted to free mankind of selfishness so when he created a drug to help him it turned him into a monster but it didn’t stop with him the drug got out and now Hydes are roaming the streets and no one is safe but now that Henry is dead how is the drug still being given. The Hydes have become even more horrifying like zombies but they will eat your heart. London is now closed down and most people are either dead or left but those still stuck inside under a new ruling are trying to cure the Hydes and restore London back to what it once was.

When I started reading this I wasn’t sure what to expect, I wasn’t expecting a upfront love story but I actually enjoyed it. I do wish we got to see more of the Hydes and a little more of London but overall I enjoyed the story and that was because of the strong character build. This is one of the best character builds I have read in a long time. There wasn’t a character I didn’t like (except for one but you are not suppose to like him anyway) I am pretty sure I loved every character but my favorite was Philomena she cracked me up and what a feisty little thing she is. The story is told mainly in Elliot’s POV he had his weaknesses and I loved how she explored that with all of the characters in the book. Especially Elliot and Cam, two strong men that held a lot of fear. Iris was a strong willed girl and I adored her. I had a very hard time putting this one down between the strong characters and the intense story. It has a little mystery mixed in and when the story finally comes together it’s amazing.

As much as I would have liked a little more Hydes this book was outstanding. I adore all the characters and having such a strong bond to them while reading. I think knowing all there strengths and weaknesses helps to make you feel more for each person in the book. For Andrea Berthot's first book I think she did a phenomenal job and I can’t wait to read more from her. I can’t even recommend this book enough. Awesome characters, amazing world and intense story makes this book a great read.
