Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

by Stephanie Perkins

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

Anna is being forced to spend her senior year in Paris by her dad. She doesn't want to leave her life behind in Atlanta, but when she gets to Paris, she finds a whole new life. Anna becomes friends with a group of friends who have been at the School of America in Paris (SOAP) since their freshman year, so Anna feels like the odd one out in the beginning.

She feels out of place in France. She doesn't know the language, and she doesn't know anyone. She's afraid to leave her little room. That is until Etienne St. Clair takes her out and shows her Paris. After that, her and St. Clair become best friends, and Anna starts to fall in love with him. The only problem, St. Clair has a girlfriend and Anna has Toph back in Atlanta.

I don't even know what to say, besides I. Loved. This. Book. I stayed up till 5 in the morning reading it two nights in a row. It's the book that can make you swoon one minute, and then be so mad and upset the next. I was so mad at Anna and St. Clair because of the back and forth they kept doing. They would be talking and enjoying each others company one minute, and then the next they would be mad and wouldn't talk to each other. So frustrating, but so good!

What I liked the most was the setting. Being in France just made everything that more interesting and exciting. The fact that they can just walk everywhere made me wish I could walk everywhere I needed to go, without it taking hours... or getting ran over. And all the historical stuff! Love it!

But really, thinking back, the story doesn't really have that many major plot turns or anything really exciting. It's just about Anna and what happens her senior year in France. She goes to a lot of historical places and goes to see a lot of movies. There's a lot of "OMG St. Clair's leg touched mine!" and a lot of fights. But for some reason, I loved it. And after finishing the book, I wanted to reread it right away.

So don't let the title fool you, it's a great book! (I obviously am not a fan of the title and yes, I do judge a book by it's title sometimes) It will make you wish you spent your senior year in France.
