I received this book in a goodreads giveaway. I've read a few other books by Howell but none in this particular series. This book can be read as a stand alone novel. Howell does a really good job filling in the context that a reader might be missing from the other books.

This book was by far one of the better romance novels I've read. There's plenty of action mixed in with the romance. There were even a few paranormal twists as well. These combined to make a great story with wonderful characters. It didn't feel like the run of the mill, typical romance novels.

Overall impressions: Howell is a great writer. Give this book a try!
