Initial Thoughts: 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed reading this, and parts of the plot were pretty unique. On the other hand, parts of the plot were also incredibly convenient or just too stereotypical in YA fantasy. I also enjoyed the book as a standalone, and I kind of wish more books would just *stay* standalones. I would read more novels by the author, but I wasn't grabbed enough by this book to want to read a series continuing from it.
