My Delicious Garden is a fun and appealing illustrated children's book on the joys of growing food and gardening. Originally published in French in 2020, this English language translation is due out 15th March 2022 from Owlkids Books. It's 24 pages and will be available in hardcover format.

This is such a simple, appealing book arranged chronologically through the gardening calendar year with a little girl thinking about, planning, planting, and caring for her own garden. The non-rhyming text by Anne-Marie Fortin is very simple and appropriate for youngsters or to be read to youngsters by a caregiver. The illustrations by Julien CastaniƩ are whimsically simple but deceptively intricate with small insects and other details which invite a closer look.

There are some details which aren't directly referenced in the text, but which I was pleased to note. The characters in the book are drawn from a wide variety of ethnicities. Representation is important and it's refreshing to see here as well. The other thing is that the youngster in the story refers to her "mothers" a couple times in the text. She seems to have a well balanced supportive home life, and she also seems to have two moms. It's not a major point in the story, but it is there and is positively portrayed.

Five stars. This is a sweet and appealing story and will likely become a firm favorite.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
