I don't generally make it a habit to read novellas, as the stories tend to be rushed and lacking in character development. However, I must admit that I have read a few that was the complete opposite. I made an exception for this title as the blurb grabbed my attention. I am a sucker for stories about men in uniform.

RANGER'S LUCK, which is the first book in the Army Ranger series, was a quick but intense read. The pace was balanced and in no way was the story rushed. The author was able to bring the story alive and the ending was nicely wrapped up. It did not leave me with any unanswered questions. Personally, I believe this is a great start to the series and I can't wait to read book two.

I enjoyed reading Cory's and Madison's story. I was curious to find out Madison's reasons for not dating men in the military. When her reasons were revealed, it made it easier to understand her initial reaction to Cory. Yet she found it difficult to fight her attraction to him. Cory was your typical alpha male. Tough on the outside, but when it came to those he loved he was a softie on the inside. The secondary characters added flavor to the story and I love the fact that the next installment will be about them.

Overall, this is a great introduction not only to a new series, but also to the author's work. Based on this experience, I am inclined to check out her previous books. -
