IMHO: A Woman's Persuasion
I appreciate all the modern retellings since I can't read historical contemporaries, classics or not. And no, I haven't read Persuasion by Austen. /sorrynotsorry
- Cute,
- Engaging,
- Devoured it in a day
- Love how it flowed and felt.
- Set in a modern world, but narrated in an updated old school kinda way.
- Misunderstandings were reasonable
- Big cast of family and friends w/o any trouble keeping them straight
- Fatphobia in the beginning was difficult to read, but Anne kept me going.
- Loved Anne & Freddie
- The dueling brothers, girl crushes, and side couples were too funny and adorable
- I wasn't thrilled with the losing weight portion, especially how easy it seemed to be for her.
- But I do like how she still didn't fit her family's thinness ideal, didn't overwhelm the story, and it wasn't necessary for the romance.
- No sexual action, straight or gay.
- All the warm and fuzzies ending.
- Totally would've read more about them finally reconnecting, their life together, maybe a chance for putting her money where her mouth is about loving no matter the size /side-eye.
Ya'll should totally read this! I think it's perfect for the upcoming holidays, or when you're needing a quick pick me up. It's on Kindle Unlimited or buy it for 99 cents. #WorthIt
