Every time I finish reading a new book from Mary Connealy I am astonished at how well I have been entertained. I giggled, I cried and I had a desire to throw the book across the room in response to the “bad guys”. Doctor in Petticoats is no different on that line of thinking. I was not disappointed and nor will any reader of Mary Connealy be unhappy with this novel.
This is the first book in the Sophie’s Daughter series, it comes after Lassoed in Texas series and the Montana Marriages Trilogy. While I was reading I knew that it was to be a continuation of the Lassoed in Texas series as the first book there, Petticoat Ranch is Sophie’s story. I was not prepared to find an interwoven continuation of the Montana Marriages Trilogy, I literally cried with happiness. :) In part this was a story about the oldest daughter Beth, but it was also about the next daughter Mandy. So many personalities on the page and full on entertainment.
Beth McCellen finds a groom and way to be a real Doctor in Alex Buchanan. Mandy follows her heart into a marriage that might be the biggest mistake she ever made. I love this book and start of a new series, I cannot wait for the second book in Wrangler in Petticoats and then especially the third in the series Sharpshooter in Petticoats to continue Mandy and her sisters’ stories.

I am not sure why I seem surprised. Reading a story from romantic comedian Christian Historical Fiction author Mary Connealy always sends me through a whirl of emotions. Wrangler in Petticoats is another one in a long line of entertaining reads with big messages. Through the pages a reader will be taken into a romance that is full of blushes and shy grins, but also giggles and plain out chuckles. Yet you also get deep conversations on topics of discussion like marriage, family, and true love. That’s what this book is about.
Marriage, good ones and bad ones. Marriage for love and marriage for convenience. Family that means nothing and family that means life as well as family that just happens to exist. Then love. Love on the offsets of a lie, love that thrives in truth and love that is hidden because of propriety or situation. It is always a journey with Mary and of course I look forward to more.

Sharpshooter in Petticoats is the third novel in Sophie’s Daughters Series, or rather the ninth novel if you include Lassoed in Texas and Montana Marriages in that series as well. The best part is that the fun keeps coming on characters that I love with the writing of one of my absolute favorite authors Mary Connealy. The best part, even though it is a continuation of great characters, as a reader you really could start anywhere and enjoy any and all of the books as a stand alone.
Every time I read Mary Connealy I want to go grab my husband, forcefully kiss him and walk away with a self satisfied grin.
