This is my first time reading something by Reine, though I have quite a few of her books loaded onto my Kindle. I've heard wonderful things about her books so I figured it was time to find out for myself.
Monsters is a really awesome and twisted kind of love story that tugs at your heart and makes you cringe from the blunt violence. I know that last part sounds like a bad thing, but it's really not. The action involved in this is fantastic, thought out and executed with precession. Sure it's bloody, but you could have guessed that from the title...Reine literally tells you that it's going to be twisted before you even get into it. I think that's what I enjoyed the most, having a main character who is 'off' and finds comfort in things that don't qualify as normal. It's a change of pace and direction.
The only complaint I have is that it ended. The length didn't really bother me because Reine managed to flesh out each scene nicely but it ended with a cliffhanger of sorts and those bring out the worst in me...So needless to say I'll be reading more of Reine's work and I look forward to the rest of The Bloodless series.
