This was my favorite of the series.

Clayton and Caroline were a couple I could immediately get behind. These two had similar crappy childhoods and equally horrible luck at love, so it was destined (by Harper Sloan) for these two to find each other in a local bar and to have a one night stand that changes the course of their lives.

I normally don't like "love at first sight" type of books, but this one worked. Clayton confessed pretty quickly that he wasn't going to squander another chance with Caroline when he sees her again. And despite Caroline's fears when it comes to relationships, she quickly admitted that Clayton was the only one that made her feel safe. It was heartwarming to see two people who had been deadset against relationships break all their rules when fate puts the right person in front of them.

Harper Sloan ties up the Davis family with one hell of a book. This may have been Clayton and Caroline's book, but the Davis siblings were right there supporting their brother and getting his. There were moments between Mav and Clayton that will have you reaching for a kleenex, moments between Clayton and Quinn where you cringed at the same time you laughed. And when we get to that epilogue we discover the Davis siblings, despite having the horrible parents they had, know how to build a family and to love.

One of my top reads of 2017. A true treasure.
