Another Day

by David Levithan

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Celebrate all the ways love makes us who we are with this enthralling and poignant follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Every Day--now a major motion picture.

David Levithan turns his New York Times bestseller Every Day on its head by flipping perspectives in this exploration of love and how it can change you.

Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person . . . wasn’t Justin at all.

I was very excited when I found out I was getting more of A & R. I loved Every Day and found the premise so interesting. I did not set the same expectations for this book, because I already knew that Rhiannon's experiences would not be anything like A's. With that said, I really appreciated getting to know this girl better and how meeting A really changed her. The personal changes she underwent were not obvious in Every Day. A made her better. A helped Rhiannon see that she was fading away, or to paraphrase Ben, standing in her boyfriend's shadow. A helped her see that she was worth more, that she deserved more. A helped her appreciate the people she had around her and to recognize how they loved her. Story aside, my love of David Levithan runs deep. I love his style and the way he tells a story. I also am thankful for his dedication to writing diverse characters and bringing attention to gender issues. I think it is important that there are books out there telling everyone's story, and Levithan always does it in such a smart and beautiful way.
