I really liked Lily. The biggest problem with this book is the length. I would've been interested to read a full length story and see how Lily and Ryder/Stone come to be - unfortunately the length stunted what could've been a great story. There are glimpses here and there - Lily is rather funny - but otherwise falls a bit short. The love at first sight was rather dramatic with talk of soul mates and whatnot but if nothing else I like that the book ended with Lily asking him out on a date and choosing to see where their relationship goes rather than moving in/getting married/making life long commitments. There was no talk of love even though both had thoughts that pertained to the idea. 3.5 stars.
book 2: Drake
Lol I loved Brandy. Her drive to keep Lily safe and Lily's own optimism was hilarious. The banter between her and Drake was hysterical. I loved the easy, flirty way they interacted. Brandy was totally badass and it was cool that Drake acknowledges that. Drake was amusing, especially when he got shot in the ass. Twice. And the vomiting. Twice. And he's whole 'I'm cold' routine he did to get Brandy to cuddle with him. It was funny in book 1 but it was hysterical in book 2. But it was also cool that he wasn't just macho but also trying to prove himself to his pseudo big brother. I loved that Brandy defends him to Ryder and that she totally takes on the whole squad as well as her dad. Her dad backing down was hilarious. 4 stars.
The epilogue wraps up both stories and hints at what's been happening in the year since the end of the books. It kind of just touched on how each relationship has evolved but it was a nice conclusion to two amusing and enjoyable reads. 4 stars.
