Shadows of Lela by Tessonja Odette

Shadows of Lela (Lela Trilogy, #1)

by Tessonja Odette

For fans of Holly Black, Sarah J. Maas, and Leigh Bardugo comes this epic fantasy tale of hidden identities, forbidden love, and a fierce heroine who won't be underestimated.

To save a unicorn, Cora must face her past. To save a kingdom, she must fight for her future.

Evil threatens the land of Lela, and only one suspects the truth—Princess Cora. She speaks out but finds herself disowned and left for dead. Taken in by witches, she starts a new life learning to hone her magic. But when she discovers unicorns are being starved and mutilated, her past comes back to haunt her. She’ll have to face it…and a deadly foe.

Prince Teryn must unite his kingdom with an allied neighbor or risk invasion. Marriage is a favorable solution, especially if it’s with the stunning princess to the west. To win her heart, he’ll have to hunt down three unicorns. That’s nothing for true love, right? He thought he knew the answer…until he meets a feisty young witch in the woods who changes everything.

Cora and Teryn find themselves entangled and at odds in the dangerous forests of Kero. Can they band together? Or will a deadly plot destroy their kingdoms before they can save the ones they love?

Unveil the mystery, romance, and adventure in the kingdoms of Lela, where unicorns hold untold light magic, but a dark sorcerer seeks to manipulate it to his own ends. The twists and turns in SHADOWS OF LELA will keep you turning the pages — a thrilling beginning to this epic fantasy trilogy.

I really liked the story. I loved the ending. I really didn’t like Mareleau. Cora was by far my favorite. I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.
