The Basics:
Faefever starts exactly where Bloodfever left off, with our heroine, Mac, lying in a dirty puddle, writhing in agony from being near the most evil of evil objects. If you don't know that that is, I suggest you read the previous two books. This series must be read in order, and is all excellent, so get to it.
My Thoughts:
Like I said, Faefever picks up immediately from where Bloodfever ended. Mac is close to the Sinsar Dubh and has finally figured out who has it. Kind of. She now knows where it is. Kind of. It's complicated, but Mac is smart and she's putting the pieces together. Much of this book is Mac going out and gathering any bits of information that she can. She's no longer at the mercy of those around her. She's doing things on her terms now.
Much like the previous book, Faefever spends a lot of time focusing on world-building rather than plot progression. Although there is more of the latter than in Bloodfever. I had completely forgotten every single thing that happens in this book except for that final chapter, which is like...damn. Mac is in big trouble now! Nothing she learned could have prepared her for the inevitability of the wall between man and fae coming down.
My favorite part of Faefever was definitely Barrons and V'lane finally interacting and ganging up on Mac. Of course this made my mind wander into other realms and dirty possibilities, because obviously. A girl can dream! But even without that, that scene had me smiling. The two most powerful men in Mac's life going head to head. Who comes out on top?
Faefever is the darkest and most intense of the series so far. So much is going on to set up for the next book. And that cliffhanger? Make sure you have Dreamfever on hand.
