M. L Nystrom is a new to me author and one whose books I will definitely continue to read. Simply put, The Price of Redemption was awesome. It’s the first book in the MC Dutchman series and it works well as a standalone.

Iceman, president of the Dutchmen MC, earned the moniker because of the cold and heartless manner in which he dealt with his enemies. Everyone who crosses his path is intimidated by him, except for the beautiful and innocent blond who turned up on the club steps.

Gabriella’s desire to protect her cousin left her no choice but to offer herself to Iceman as a bargaining chip as collateral, her uncle’s betrayal against the club. Iceman, not amused by the situation, reluctantly agrees to the arrangement. However, he had no intention of letting her uncle off the hook. During his search for Gabriella’s uncle, he learnt of a threat against the Dutchmen and their allies. While trying to learn the identity of the mastermind behind the threat, he recognised an even bigger threat. A threat to his heart, placing him at an even bigger risk with an unknown enemy and destroying his one chance at Redemption

I went into The Price of Redemption expecting a gritty read and got more than I bargained for. The story took me on an emotional, gripping, brutal and suspenseful journey. A journey I am glad I took. This story will grab hold of your heart as you follow the hero on his long and heartbreaking journey to redemption.

Iceman and Gabriella complemented each other. She was the light to his dark, the fire to his ice. The moment Ice laid eyes on her, he knew she had brought trouble. He just didn’t know the type until it was too late. Of course, as someone with a heartbreaking past, Iceman fought against his growing feelings for Gabriella. Sometimes he did so with cruel actions, hoping it would drive her away. She brought a side of him he never knew existed.

Gabriella’s fierce determination and strength in the face of adversity won me over immediately. I admired her selflessness.

The romance warmed my heart. The moment Iceman realised fighting was futile and embraced the inevitable, what we see is a coming together of two hearts, soul and mind. I was head over heels in love with this couple. I was pleasantly surprised that smexy times between the lead characters occurred late in the story. Also, it lacked the steam one would expect from this type of story. However, there are graphic details in relation to club members and their interactions with females who visit the club to provide entertainment.

The suspense build up kept me on the edge of my seat and had me flipping the pages. There was a point in the story where my heart leapt to my throat and had me fearing for them both. Be warned, some scenes are brutal and definitely not for the fainthearted.

Now, while I loved this book, I had issues with how the events were tied. It confused me and left me with lots of questions. However, it would seem that although each book in the series features a different couple, the story arc involving the enemy extends to the rest of the series.

Overall, The Price of Redemption is an interesting, deep and inspiring story. Readers who enjoy the darker side of MC stories will want to add Price of Redemption to their reading list.
