I'm always amazed how much this author can pack into such a relatively short book. It made for a quick, enjoyable read. This is the first book I've read in this series and it was perfect for a Halloween read! This series is apparently an off-shoot from another, earlier series but any mentions to the past were adequately and succinctly explained, so I had no trouble following who was who and what was what.

Amanda makes for a compelling main character, having been in the witness protection program, the ability to see and speak to ghosts and good intentions that lead to questionable judgement (I smelled that TSTL moment well before it happened!) but likeable nonetheless. As for the plot, a serial killer is kidnapping and killing young women for sport and Amanda is there to speak to the ghosts of the victims and get information to nail the killer. I loved the fast pace that was able to create a vivid picture of the location, the action and the characters without bogging the story down with all the detail. In the end, I read it straight through in about an hour and a half because once it got going, I was along for the ride. I'll definitely be reading the other books in the series, I'm hooked!
