~Blog Tour ~February 22nd, 2018 ~ Dark Wish BY Yumoyori Wilson~
Full Review on my blog!

I don’t even know where to start!

Okayy, first off, I LOVE the cover~

This book is incredible! The characters, plot, world building is so amazing, unique and unlike anything I’ve read before. Dark Wish will hook you form the start, and you won’t want to stop reading. I absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the description, but wasn’t sure if I’d like it because I thought, “oh no! Is this going to be similar to The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer??”… I mean, the whole “missing princess” but I was proven wrong! Similar in that way only, because Cinder wasn’t kidnapped as a child, like Makoto (Princess Rosalind of Helia).

Dark Wish follows Makoto, the adorable but slightly ‘crazy’ main character. Makoto, kidnapped at a very young age, is a prisoner/slave/experiment to ‘the Owner’ (Blair Aspen). Honestly, this beginning part is perfect insight into how long she’s been living this life of trials and torment and how she’s the Owners’ favourite.

She does get rescued by 4 of her knights; Ryder, Elias, Daniel, Marcus, there is a 5th Knight, Kai, but he’s back in Helia. But yeah, she gets rescued, and things finally change for her, in a good way, in a way that she never thought would happen; she gets to live in the ‘real’ world, a world outside of the facility.

Makoto strives to be normal but normal is hard when she was born to be different, and stand out. There is a prophecy about her that the Starlight Gods will bless her with 4 spirits (which is VERY rare, and no one ever has coped with that many spirits). But Makoto is such a strong character, that she can in fact cope with all of them! Also, having all these spirits makes Makoto soo powerful. She wields power unlike any ever seen before, which is why the “Owner” favoured her. We also get to know and love her 4 spirits; Rose, Lexi, Lilly, Hope and a ‘split personality’, Midnight. (There’s a reason I quoted “split personality” which I can’t say because of spoilers for the second book, which I just recently finished.) She converses with these spirits/powers in her mind. And it is hilarious! I absolutely loved Makoto and her shifter inhabitants. It’s one of my favourite things about this book! I love how it affected Makoto. It seemed perfectly reasonable that she would be a little too inside her head… orrrrr not, sometimes taking her internal conversations public without even realizing it, which was amazing btw! And the reactions from the people around her are great!

OMg Chapter 9 “operation badass bitch” was my favourite!! Makoto is such a strong character, and I thought this chapter really showed it!

This book had some of everything; action, romance, suspense, humor. It really was a fantastic read. I still can’t get over how creative this author is! The world building and back story are exceptional. The characters are multi-layered, and very intricate. THE CLIFFHANGER THOUGH!!! Brutal and shocking. It made me want to get the second book sooo bad! haha… but in my opinion the ending felt really sudden…maybe a little tooo sudden… and I’m kinda disappointed with it.

I can’t wait to read more from this author!! I highly recommend it!
