The next chapter in the #1 New York Times bestselling Percy Jackson universe! Book 1 of The Heroes of Olympus fantasy adventure series for readers ages 10 and up.
Classmates Jason, Piper, and Leo learn they are actually demigods who must embark on a quest to rescue a certain missing deity…
Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she’s his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they’re all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for “bad kids.” What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea―except that everything seems very wrong.
Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for 3 days, and her vivid nightmares reveal that he’s in terrible danger. Now her boyfriend doesn’t recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. What is going on?
Leo has a way with tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, and fine-looking girls. What’s troubling is the curse everyone keeps talking about, and that a camper’s gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist they are all―including Leo―related to a god.
Fans of demigods, prophesies, and quests will be left breathless—and ready to tear into the next chapter of Heroes of Olympus!
I really, really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read the Percy Jackson series yet and I’ve heard a lot of reviews saying that it’s like the same thing but I thought this was good. At first I was really confused and I wasn’t sure if I’d make it through but I pushed through it and it got better.
One thing I didn’t like was how every 2 chapters the book would switch points of view. It was consistent at least but I hate it when authors do that. Another thing was that the writing was really simple and not really anything special. I did like the plot and everything else which gave it more stars for me. Other than that I loved this book. I love anything about Greek mythology and I was happy to learn that this book was a mixture of Greek and Roman mythology which I think is great.
I liked all the characters, maybe not at first but at the end I did. It was really confusing at the start because Jason has no memory of anything. It got a little better once more characters were involved but I still thought that part was a little hard to get through. The plot was pretty straightforward but I liked that. It was simple and to the point which made for a nice beginning novel. Hopefully it gets more detailed in the future.
