Drakon Unchained continues the saga of the Drakon, a half dragon half human creature that is being hunted by a secret society.

All the heroines in this series have some sort of supernatural talent. Victoria can 'dream walk' and see people's past and present. She met a Drakon when she was a child and she knows now that he is being kept against his will. She takes a job as the assistant to the head of the secret society seeking these Drakons. In her position she meets the head of security, Luther. He isn't there because he believes in the mission of the secret society either. However, they don't realize they can trust each other.

I liked that the drakon wasn't the hero of this story. You are introduced to this captive drakon and his mate in the first chapter of the book. That was a different take from the previous books and I enjoyed that. The plot does have action and suspense, but I felt it took too long to get there. Victoria and Luther are both fascinating characters who have their own unique reasons for seeking a specific Drakon. This book does seem to, in many ways, start a new chapter for the drakons. Normally, starting in the middle of a series is ill advised, but it kind of works in this case. You can pick up this book without having read the previous books and not feel that something is missing. I think the world that Walters has created is interesting and unique, which creates a positive reading experience for fans of PNR looking for something fresh. I'm looking forward to seeing where Walters takes this series; I was afraid it was over after book 4 (since that was kind of the end of the 4 brothers' stories) so I am glad to see she is continuing!
