Jamison has had a crush on her brother's best friend, Ryder, for as long as she can remember. Ryder knows she's off limits, especially now that the band has made it big and has an endless supply of women after ever show. But in Crash Into Me, Ryder and Jamison finally cross that friendship line into something more. Her life is completely falling apart, so her brother hires her as the band's personal chef on tour. And let me say, the heat is not restricted to the kitchen once Ryder says to hell with the best friend's little sister is off the table rule!
I really liked Crash Into Me. At first it seemed like every other rock star romance out there. Ryder isn't just the sexy lead singer, he's a damaged, brooding hero. Jamison is the optimist in the face of hardships who helps him love again and become a better man. But it all totally worked for me. Ryder is haunted by nightmares from his previous girlfriend who killed herself. He feels at fault and doesn't want to bring another person he cares about into that. Jamison isn't like her though, and makes sure Ryder sees that. She helps him let go of the past, and he helps her see herself as a beautiful and capable woman, since she currently feels like neither. I just loved them together. Of course, the sex is super hot too.
What I also liked about Crash Into Me was that we really got to know the other band mates without taking away from the couple, or having their scenes feel shoehorned. Jared is Jamison's older brother who starts the book engaged. I figured something would have to happen to make him single, so he'd get his own book. I felt so bad for him once that did happen. Then there's Wyatt who just broke my heart! He's a drug addict and had many failed stints in rehab, and he's just fading away. There's also Micha and Quinn, whom we didn't get to know as well, the former for spoilery reasons, but I am excited that Quinn's book is next.
Crash Into Me was really good. It's a rock star romance that was predictable, but it felt different than others I've read because I really enjoyed the characters and their interactions with each other.
