+Simone is black, adopted, bisexual, obsessed with musicals, and HIV positive. She was born with it and takes her medication everyday. She doesn't tell anyone though, after the disaster at her previous school. However, someone starts leaving her notes saying to stay away from her crush or they'll tell her secret.
+Very straight forward discussions of sex. Sex is complicated, and more so for Simone. However, she's not afraid to ask questions and talk about it with her friends, doctors, support group. Maybe with her dads though.
+Friendship is messy but wonderful. Fights happen, but the love is there.

-The original stage production is not automatically the best or better than the movie version. I don't like media snobs. People can like whichever version they like.
