We finally get the story of Silas and Delilah! Bowen has been teasing this for a few books now, and Superfan delivers the dirt on these two! Part second chance, part rock star romance, Superfan brings humor and heart to the Brooklyn Bruisers!
Honestly, I am really not a fan of 'rockstar' romances. But, Delilah is a singer/songwriter and she is already successful. Silas is also already successful too. I think having them both on 'equal footing' in that sense made the book work better for me. The twist is that they both knew each other before they made it big. They met but it wasn't their time. So, parts of the story are flashbacks to that time before they were famous, and the rest of the story is in the present. Delilah's ex (who is also her manager of sorts) is a real piece of work. Turns out, he and Silas have a history too (and its not good). Brett (the ex) was a horrible human. I seriously spent the entire book thinking "Why hasn't anyone punched him in the nuts"? Its not like he was the one with the talent!
Superfan has a bit more angst than previous books in the series (at least I thought so). First, Delilah and Silas live on opposite coasts. Second, both have very demanding jobs that require lots of travel. Third, she has all the baggage that is Brett. It seemed like there was ALWAYS something getting in their way. The upside to this angst was that Bowen writes a heroine who recognizes she has been 'managed' her entire adult life and has a need to do things in her own time. This sets Silas up as a perfect book boyfriend because he not only lets her do things at her pace, but encourages her!
