I really appreciate the way that Jace frames Madness in this series to be accessible to the average reader. When one hears 'madness' they typically think of the insane (which makes the fact that Alice is in an asylum in the books a brilliant tie-in), but he uses it as a metaphor for the everyday life. Things that stress us out, take away from joy of living, and oftentimes consumes us. These things are a part of being an adult, and erode the wonder children have for the world.
