Pretty Revenge

by Emily Liebert

The name of the game is revenge--no matter the cost--in this emotionally charged thriller reminiscent of The Wife Between Us and The Perfect Nanny.

Kerrie O'Malley, jobless and in an unfulfilling relationship, can isolate the singular moment in her life when things veered off course--the night she was irrevocably wronged by someone she looked up to. Eighteen years later, when Kerrie sees the very woman who destroyed her life on television, a fire ignites inside her. The stakes are high. The risks are perilous. But she'll stop at nothing to achieve the retribution she deserves.

Jordana Pierson is a gilded New Yorker who appears to have it all: wealth, glamour, a successful and handsome husband, and a thriving wedding concierge business. Her record is spotless. Her business is flourishing. No one knows the truth about her and the dark shadows of her past.

No one, that is, except Kerrie.

Exploring just how far someone will go for vengeance, Pretty Revenge is a riveting, compulsively readable novel bursting with twists and turns and plenty of suspense.

Pretty Revenge has a lot of very interesting aspects going for it! And one of those aspects is that we get chapters from either Jordana’s or Kerrie’s point of view. They both feel like they have a very difficult life, and have had to make some hard choices. However, Kerrie is out for revenge. Because when she was only 12 years old, Jordana took everything from her.
I loved that even as the characters were rather careful in their interactions in the beginning, they actually grew to love and respect each other. And the way Kerrie changed her appearance so that she could get close to Jordana made me root for her.
At the same time, while I could understand her thirst for revenge, I also kind of felt like it would have been better for her to just leave the past in the past.
As Kerrie forged new relationships, and really grew into herself, I liked a lot about her. Her drive, her intelligence, her street-smarts, and her organisation skills were excellent. And she was very methodological in everything she did.
Overall, Pretty Revenge is a good story, and I stayed up until 1 am to finish reading. There was a lot going on, and I really needed to know how it would all end.
