I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Eve of Destruction, book one in The League: Eve of Destruction series, gave me my first taste of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s work. A short read, which also introduced me to her prolific League series.   The first book in a new series of novella set in the League world. Also, the events of this installment took place prior to the first book in the League series.

Now, despite my lack of familiarity with the world I had no issues following the story. The only drawback is that it whetted my appetite for more of this world. The story was exciting, and it hooked from the beginning. Now, at ninety plus pages, the romance between the protagonists Jinx and Eve developed quickly. Despite the pace at which the romance developed, their connection felt genuine. What made their romance special is that Jinx a League assassin, was trained to be devoid of feelings.

However, the moment he laid eyes on Eve, he was drawn to her. He knew he should stay away because of the danger involved, but he couldn’t.

Kenyon weaved an engaging tale filled with intrigue, humour and romance. I had a good time with this installment and look forward to more from the series.
