I didn't like this one as much as the first book. I still liked it, but there were a number of cringe-worthy moments that made me want to skim past them.

Like the first book, the 4 siblings stumble upon something magical. And they go on various adventures to help the phoenix hatch her egg. I liked Fenella, she didn't act like I expected a phoenix to in my head, but she was a fun character if a bit ditzy.

I liked how the kids had to work together in order to get each item that Fenella needed. And while it was believable that some of them succumbed to temptation to use the items themselves, I kept hoping that they would realize that "be careful what you wish for" would apply. It certainly did in their first adventure!

We get to see Skribble for a bit, and there is the obligatory evil character that you wouldn't expect. I liked how it all tied together, and the twist at the end about Fenella's egg. Milly is still my favorite of the siblings, but all of them clicked better with me this time around except for Michael.

These are the only 2 books in the series at the moment, no idea if more are planned. But even if they stop with this book, the adventure is tied up and doesn't really leave anything hanging.
