Oh man, AL Jackson knows how to write the angst. ANGST!!! If you've been waiting for Zee's story, hold onto your hat....it's gutwrenching.
Zee has spent the last seven years trying to atone for the mistake he made that cost him his brother. He doesn't think he's good enough because he didn't fight for his brother or for his own life after everything fell apart. But when he rescues Alexis from her would-be attacker, Zee finds the one thing that he could run towards for the rest of this life.
Zee and Alexis are kindred spirits. Both of them would bend over backward for someone they love, even if that's not what's best for them. But once these two find each other, their draw to another and their chemistry is undeniable...even if Zee tries to deny it himself.
The angst in this book could almost be considered a secondary character. It leaps off the page, to the point that I felt like I was covered in Zee's emotional issues. This is AL Jackson at her best. She makes these characters pull the same emotions out of the reader as they're displaying on the page. I was desperate for Zee to figure his mess out because I was completely vested in him getting his HEA.
Another great entry into the Bleeding Stars series. I didn't think anyone was going to top Ash, but boy was I wrong. Zee will grab you. Demand you pay attention to him and hope for allows himself a HEA.
