Someone has released a virus into the world (by accident, or on purpose?) that has made the immune systems of all women who get pregnant react and cause the women's deaths. MDS has killed millions of women around the world. Jessie Lamb is a young women about to start college, just an ordinary girl living a very ordinary life. But Jessie begins to look at events around her as her friends begin to react to what is happening by taking different sides and decides that what she must do to make her life count. Her parents and friends disagree but Jessie is determined to make her life count for the future. She makes the ultimate sacrifice for what she feels is the best outcome not for her but for the children of the future.
